Hello Everyone!
I've read so many other blogs that I thought it'd be fun to start one of my own! It's kind of a hodge-bodge of my sweet little boys, school & craft projects & learning about life on a farm when you're a city gal. That always presents some story-worthy events :) Also thought it'd be a great way to keep track of memories for my boys! I need to be better at writing them in their baby books!!!
Post #1: The Beginning--"Let's go camping!"
--My husband is a young farmer who grew up in a farm family. We were introduced by my mom who said, "I found my future son-in-law" when she was telling me about Jeremy. After a few strong drinks, we ended up singing "Barbie Girl" together at the bar one night...poor guy! Must have impressed me cause we started dating shortly there after. One day, he suggested that we go camping. (I LOVE to camp...he does NOT!) The weather was a bit iffy the night we were supposed to go but we decided to finally go after it stopped raining (8pmish)...He told me we were going camping on some of his land! I was super excited as we drove back into some woods ...this was going to be such a romantic trip!(Now that I think about it, a neck brace would be a good idea to wear next time....bit bumpy in the big farm pickup!!) We stop and as I look out, I'm super impressed!! The storm had passed, stars were out, no one could see or hear us...I jumped out ready to make start a fire & roast some marshmallows. As I walk to the back of the pickup, "YUCK!" I stepped in a cowpie...I look around...cowpies EVERYWHERE!!! Yep, he took me camping in a cow pasture!!! I laugh now but pretty sure I didn't at that moment ;) We get the fire started & we have visitors! Cows!!! Yep, this isn't an old pasture....it's STILL a pasture!!! I should have probably asked to go home then but decided to stay! We enjoyed some marshmallows & conversations under our supervisors and then decided to catch some zzzs at it was late! We settle in with my cockapoo, Chaplin, (he was once my baby and went EVERYWHERE with me...even had his own carseat in the car ;) Anywho, Chaplin starts barking an hour or so later and I hear new noises.....after a peek out the tent, I see the cows have decided to come within feet of our tent but this noise was not something a cow would make. I wake Jeremy up and say, "Listen!!! What is that?!?!?" "Oh, that's just coyotes," he replies and goes back to sleep!!!! "Um...excuse me!! Coyotes?!?!!" I was ready to go home at that point!!! He assures me that we're fine....which I wasn't satisfied with....I kept freaking out until 3am when he says, "Go to sleep or we're going home!!" I didn't want to be a wimp so I went to sleep, I think I slept...but how do you sleep when you know giant cows are right outside & a thin sheet is all that separates you?!?! Even worse....coyotes?!?! Seriously....don't take your girlfriend camping in a pasture with cows & coyotes :)
